Request for cancellation of registration from Al Schwimmer (Service Airways) dated 11 Mar 48 and registered in Panamá as RX-121 to LAPSA. Flown by Lewis 13 Mar 48 via Newark to Tocumen Airport, Panamá; and from Tocumen 19-21 Jun 48 via Paramaribo, Dakar and Casablanca to Šatec, Czechoslovakia. In service for Israel Air Force (‘IAF’) on airlift of arms from Czechoslovakia to Israel, Jun-Jul 48. Retained RX-121 registration during this period and never bore military serial. Suffered hydraulic failure and damaged in subsequent wheels- up landing at Šatec, 13 Jul 48 (14 Jul 48 also quoted), and had to be taken out of service. RX-121 registration canceled, 17 Sep 48. While on a scheduled flight from London to Tel Aviv via Vienna on 27 Jul 55, shot down by Bulgarian MiG-15 fighters over Bulgaria, a few miles from the Greek-Bulgarian border, with all 7 crew and 51 passengers killed.

Converted to Model 49-51-26 by Lockheed Aircraft Service (LAS), New York, for British Overseas Airways Corp, and registered in UK as G-AHEN, 1 Jul 46. Named Baltimore by BOAC, converted to Model 49-46-26 and in service 31 Aug 46. Severely damaged after overshooting at Bristol-Filton, England, 8 Jan 51, on a training flight. Written off by BOAC but shipped by insurer as deck cargo to New York, Feb 51, and rebuilt by LAS at New York-Idlewild with parts of MSN 1966, an ex-military C-69. Sold to Kirk Kerkorian (Los Angeles Air Service ,4 Apr 51, registered N74192 19 Jun 51. Rebuild completed spring 52 and leased to California Hawaiian Airlines, Apr 52. Purchased by EL AL Oct 53, transferred 18 Dec 53 and registered as 4X-AKD, 24 Dec 53. Proposed sale Feb 59 to Transazur Airlines, Switzerland, as HB-IED not completed. Proposed sale Feb 59 to Transazur Airlines, Switzerland, as HB-IEC not completed. Registration canceled 6 Feb 62, and transferred to Israel Aircraft Industries. Stored at Lod for possible IDF/AF use, but not taken up; remained stored until at least 1965. Removed to location adjacent to Avia Hotel in Yehud for possible use as a restaurant, but broken up late 1960s.
